I must agree, this is exactly what I was looking for. Yes there are still a few bugs… Updating home screen widget doesn’t always work. Not do notifications. My workaround is to see what the time interval is in the morning, and set a timer. As an enhancement request it might be nice to have a more precise value on the status page, like down to the seconds instead rounded to minutes. I am really looking forward to the paid version so I can do away with the ads.
So far, I have been able to keep track of how much and how often I smoke, which is what I needed. I like the timer too. As far as the settings go… if you setup your goals incorrectly, then try to edit the info on a later date, it starts your progress all over, and you’re back to day 1! It didn’t erase my previous data, but what’s the point if it doesn’t count it towards your ACTUAL progress. ??? Doesn’t make much sense to not be able to edit setup info. Oh, and the ads… ugh.
All in all, I’m thankful for this app. It’s the only thing since Quest cigarettes (anyone remember those?) that has ever really helped me. I love that it allows for either fully quitting or simply reducing how much you smoke. The interface does have a learning curve, but once you get it, it’s very helpful. Changing your program does start you back at day one, but if you do it in the middle of the day, it will at least save how many cigarettes you already logged that day. If/when you do that, you can always reset the program to fewer days while you’re at it, so you end up quitting by the desired date. You will lose progress history from your previous settings, but it doesn’t have to take you any longer to quit/reduce, and you won’t be missing any of that day’s cigarette count. The app also includes editing options for your history, in case you accidentally tap the smoke button or forgot to do so for one. Unfortunately, despite the description stating the latest update included a notifications bugfix, I’m having the same problem others have mentioned with notifications. They don’t push, they don’t use the tone I set. I was hoping to use notifications with a defined notification tone to help make smoking more Pavlovian and less urge-based. I’ve set everything I can think of on my phone and in the app to allow the notifications and make them work, to no avail. More stars if they really, truly, and fully fix it.
So far so good! I looked at 6 other apps before picking this one. Some made you pay after 3-7 days even when listed as “free” (Come on guys, a free trial isn’t a free app.) Others didn’t let me set up to wean off like I wanted to. My only feedback so far: Add a swipe option to go through the calendar days in the history section. I went to look at my specific stats for the past few days and a swipe option would be great! Also, having a list of today’s on the home screen would be nice.
I really like how the app let’s you reduce from an option of how many days you want quit smoking in. The whole set up is a brilliant idea. The only thing that keeps me from giving 5 stars and keeping the app installed is it doesn’t notify when the screen changes to green. I went into my phone and app settings into notifications to make sure it was on but still no success. I hope someone can figure it out.
Great app. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because you can’t adjust the set up criteria without completely starting over. For example, I realized in the first few days that I was smoking far less in a day than I realized. In order to make an adjustment I had to completely resart the entire set up rather than just change the number is cigarettes smoked.
The app itself is helpful. Not pushy or accidentally judgemental like the other quit smoking apps. But the biggest problems are 1) notifications don’t seem to work and 2) The super awesome widget (my fav feature) is useless because it doesn’t update unless you go into the app, and sometimes not even then. Which kind of makes the widget useless.
Literally exactly what I was looking for. I can gradually quit. I have tried so many things and failed. This is perfect already smoking way less than I allotted. However I did go to edit my setup and it started my time back at day 1. Have already shared the app with 2 family members. Ads are unobtrusive. I don’t feel shamed or degraded if I slip up.
Love the concept, much needed because cold turkey is hard– I don’t think I quite understand how the app works though. Do you press the red button when you smoke? My screens don’t toggle back and forth automatically. There’s a timer running but I don’t know what time it’s tracking. I see in my little timeline that I “smoked when I wasn’t supposed to” but I don’t know how or when I’m allowed. I plan on playing with it some more, but, for now, pressing the button when I smoke works-ish.
Simple app, basic functionality. Minimal and non-intrusive ads. I like the timeline/charts used, but wish I could see them earlier in the day. It’d be awesome if the calculations were a little more adaptive. Thank you for providing this app free of charge!
